Spray the Claudine Gay Away
I’ve had my eye on the Harvard University President, Claudine Gay, resigning from her position. The story seemed like typical internet culture war “I’m not wearing a facemask”-esque nonsense. But there’s just something about white people celebrating a black woman losing her job that made me want to take a step back and find out what’s actually happening over at Harvard.
Claudine Gay was the second woman and the first black president in Harvard’s history. And 6 months later, she was pressured to resign for plagiarizing and being anti-Semitic. Interesting being two things that, no matter where we stand politically, we all kind of agree is out of bounds. Interesting.
In October, Hamas attacked Israel. Atrocities occurred. Lives were lost. And the result has been a nonstop onslaught of airstrikes and destruction in Palestine that is still actively happening today. Months later. Israel is very clearly using a terrorist attack as an excuse to finally eradicate their Muslim neighbors.
And naturally, college kids protested against the annihilation of an entire race of people while Israel is being universally cheered on by the rest of the Western world.
Personally, I don’t think a whole population should be eliminated due to the actions of a few people who were fighting back against the open oppression they’ve been facing for generations.
BUT, we mustn’t dare say anything of the sort because we will be labeled anti-Semitic. Apparently, you are not allowed to criticize the actions of the Israeli government without hating Jewish people. ( I like Jewish people, by the way. I mean, at one point there was one specific Jewish person I liked ALOT but that’s a conversation for another day)
Claudine Gay, as well as the presidents of Penn and MIT, had to appear in front of Congress to share their testimonies on campus anti-Semitism because again, college kids protesting the deaths of millions is now somehow an attack on Jewish people.
Here’s what Gay had to say about Harvard’s rules on students speech:
There are some who have confused a right to free expression with the idea that Harvard will condone calls for violence against Jewish students. Let me be clear: Calls for violence or genocide against the Jewish community, or any religious or ethnic group are vile, they have no place at Harvard, and those who threaten our Jewish students will be held to account.
Bad-faith actors, zionists and followers dragged Claudine Gay for not outright beheading these students.
It’s almost as if people are weaponizing anti-Semitism in order to harass and ultimately punish those they deem as their enemies. Remember, we all agree hating Jews is bad, regardless of your political beliefs. So when you call someone anti-Semitic, you’re sewing a scarlet letter on their jacket—whether they’re actually anti-Semitic or not.
And since Claudine Gay became public enemy no. 1, people began digging into her credentials to question how she even became president of Harvard.
The desperate desire to discredit a black woman in one of, if not THE premier position in academia makes my stummy hurt.
Which why I do not give a single shit about Claudine Gay not sourcing correctly in some research papers she wrote in the 90s. and again, plagiarism is typically one of those things we all collectively agree is wrong.
So let’s use the AI technology that combed through all of Gay’s work and run through every single college president in America and let’s see how many walk away unscathed, ya know, since we care about plagiarism so much now.
If you are reading this right now and you were one of the people gleefully celebrating Claudine Gay losing her job, I want you to take a step back and think about what is it specifically about this woman that you specifically don’t like. I have a good idea what the answer is.
And now a word from our sponsors…
Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the greatest men to walk this planet. He dedicated his life to the freedom and advancement of his people. He had a Dream. And that dream happened at night, on one of our quality mattresses.
So come on down to the Mattress Hut on MLK Day for up to 10% (on select items) located downtown, around the corner from Mattress Mania, next door to Mattress Depot and across the street from Mattresses R Us.
And whatever you do, do not ask why all of these ‘competitors’ have stores directly next to each other. This cartel money doesn’t clean itself.
Thanks for reading. All typos are winks to the audience.
