RIP Aaron Bushnell
Over the weekend, 25-year-old US Air Force service member, Aaron Bushnell, lit himself on fire in Washington DC in front of the Israeli embassy while shouting “Free Palestine”
Standing ovation to a REAL ONE.
Now, I don’t want to make this into a thing where I go on and on about how flawed America is and how awful the Israeli government is and blah blah. I don’t want to use Aaron Bushnell’s sacrifice as an opportunity for me to get on my soapbox and repeat what most people reading this already know and feel.
I won't share the self-immolation video because I don’t uh, want to watch a suicide right now… but here’s an incredible still frame from it:
Shout out to the cop pointing a gun at the man burning alive. The police have exactly one (1) conflict resolution tactic: nervously shaking a gun in someone’s face.
But again, I don’t want to go on about how terrible the police are. This isn’t about that.
I want to be brief here because this isn’t about me at all.
I’ll just share his own words:
If you feel you need to change something, go change it. Whether you’re in some sort of rut or you want to lose weight or you want a new job or you believe a country is being allowed to commit an ethnic cleansing in the Middle East sponsored by the United States—do something.
